Just thinking: how would ratepayers like Wanaka Airport to be governed?

Submissions close on November 25. The new council must decide what to do soon.

The old council recommended a long term lease to the Queenstown Airport Corporation. What will you tell the new councillors?

Sell it? Why? Spend or save the dosh? Combine it with Queenstown Airport and make Wanaka a private jet plane park? Create a new company? What skills do the directors need?

Should Wanaka have a say in QAC policies and management plans? What if Queenstown Airport’s structure changes? Ratepayers own the majority. Auckland Airport owns the rest.

If Ballantyne Road is completely sealed from town to airport, should there be a cycle lane too? Should the airport have electric car fast chargers? Could it be a campervan ‘‘park and ride’’ station?
