Cromwell fete back

From the old favourites to new stylish and eclec­tic stalls.

Fete sea­son is upon us and the Cromwell Fes­tive Fete is back of­fer­ing more stalls, more va­ri­ety, more en­ter­tain­ment - and even throw­ing in a makeover for a lucky woman.

Or­gan­iser Anthea Lawrence said the fete, held on Satur­day, De­cem­ber 3, had at­tracted 130 stall­hold­ers - from the old favourites to new stylish and eclec­tic stalls.

A new fea­ture would be all-day en­ter­tain­ment with per­for­mances from Jody Direen who was re­turn­ing from Aus­tralia to per­form, fit­ting the fete into her sum­mer tour, Vanessa Kelly and the Ceme­tery Road Band.

This year they had also put out a call for some­one to re­ceive a min­i­makeover which will in­clude en­try tick­ets, a fa­cial, makeup (Nutrimet­ics - Ju­lia Chidley), nails (by Edge Nails) and hair (Nic Ridd) done. Lawrence, a cloth­ing de­signer was do­nat­ing a Frock dress and The Barn in Queen­stown was do­nat­ing a gift voucher, she said.

Stodler would do food demon­stra­tions, us­ing lo­cal pro­duce, while the Cake Lab would do a cake demon­stra­tion.

Wild Earth Wines, Ben­jer Cider and Al­ti­tude Brew­ing were all sell­ing al­co­hol by the glass, and of­fli­cence gift packs.

Com­mu­nity groups were help­ing on the day in­clud­ing Bar­na­dos who were man­ning the gate, and a new mis-matched rugby team - Kawa­rau Min­ers - were help­ing set up.

Tick­ets are $12 on the gate and the com­pli­men­tary shop­ping bag is in­cluded.
