Cromwell fete back
From the old favourites to new stylish and eclectic stalls.
Fete season is upon us and the Cromwell Festive Fete is back offering more stalls, more variety, more entertainment - and even throwing in a makeover for a lucky woman.
Organiser Anthea Lawrence said the fete, held on Saturday, December 3, had attracted 130 stallholders - from the old favourites to new stylish and eclectic stalls.
A new feature would be all-day entertainment with performances from Jody Direen who was returning from Australia to perform, fitting the fete into her summer tour, Vanessa Kelly and the Cemetery Road Band.
This year they had also put out a call for someone to receive a minimakeover which will include entry tickets, a facial, makeup (Nutrimetics - Julia Chidley), nails (by Edge Nails) and hair (Nic Ridd) done. Lawrence, a clothing designer was donating a Frock dress and The Barn in Queenstown was donating a gift voucher, she said.
Masterchef finalist Jaimie
Stodler would do food demonstrations, using local produce, while the Cake Lab would do a cake demonstration.
Wild Earth Wines, Benjer Cider and Altitude Brewing were all selling alcohol by the glass, and offlicence gift packs.
Community groups were helping on the day including Barnados who were manning the gate, and a new mis-matched rugby team - Kawarau Miners - were helping set up.
Tickets are $12 on the gate and the complimentary shopping bag is included.
