Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

School’s back!

It is that wonderful week of transition for parents, teachers and students all over the country during which the school uniforms are bought or brushed off, lunch boxes and school bags organised.

I know some parents are desperate to get their kids back to school, but I sit in the camp that thoroughly enjoys the freedom and lack of routine in the school holidays. I guess it is easier to feel that way when you are at work some of the time.

Like any beginning, the year is full of promise and hope for our young people with new goals and aspirations to reach for and so much learning to be done.

The new year is much the same for those of us in the workforce, but every once in a while I mull over the delicious idea of returning to full time education and the joy of immersing myself in knowledge.

Maybe once the little people have done their time I can make space to do my own.
