A chance to play with pros at NZ Open

Central Otago Mirror - - FOOD FOR THOUGHT - STAFF REPORTER

Playing with the likes of YE Yang, Ryan Fox and Michael Hendry is a chance most amateur golfers would jump at.

Now they can. Co-host Millbrook Resort has announced it will award a NZ Open Challenge pro-am spot to one lucky golfer.

Local golfers from Arrowtown, Kelvin Heights, Alexandra, Cromwell, Wanaka, Lake Hawea and Clyde golf clubs have been invited to challenge for the once-in- a-lifetime opportunity in a qualifying round at their respective clubs held before February 23.

Millbrook Challenge tournament director Allan McKay was delighted to be able to offer the opportunity.

One golfer from each club would be chosen out of golfers who had 30 or more stablefords following their qualifying round.

Those seven would then meet in a one-hole decider at Millbrook’s Coronet Nine on February 25.

The winner would receive two days play at Millbrook and The Hills with a professional player in the Open Challenge. The six other finalists would get a round of golf for two.

A professional field of 144 players will play the first two rounds of the NZ Open alternately at Millbrook Resort and The Hills before the second round cut of 60 plays the final two rounds at Millbrook.

The tournament also hosts 144 amateur players.
