FROM THE NEWS DESK

Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

Our team had the absolute privilege of attending some of the many Anzac Day ceremonies around our region last week.

There are so few World War II veterans still alive and able to participate, and we enjoyed sharing many of their stories online.

We were impressed by the large numbers of young people and families attending the various ceremonies, indicating the significance and meaning it has for them. It is so important to have some understanding of the horrors of war if we are to have the resolve to avoid it in future.

Last week’s deadlines made it impossible for us to share the stories in the Mirror, so we have included some of those stories this week - see pages 16 and 18.

However, our stories are always available to our readers online at stuff.co.nz and shared on our Facebook page (Queenstown, Central Otago and Wanaka News) and via your Neighbourly page. See you there!
