Alex Toy Library open day
It’s got new toys, new prices and in a bid to boost membership, the Alexandra Toy Library is holding an open day this weekend.
Alexandra Toy Library committee president Lana John said the organisation, which provides toys on loan, had a fluctuating membership of about 50 but the hope was to attract more families who might not otherwise have known about the service.
‘‘It’s just about keeping us on the radar for those new families,’’ John said. ‘‘There are social, financial and environmental benefits from joining toy libraries.’’
The toy library, situated beside Molyneux Aquatic Centre, caters for children under six-years-old and has a huge range of fun and educational toys, games, puzzles, dress-ups and large play equipment, including bikes, for members to borrow.
dropped slightly this year but John hoped new families and grandparents would continue to support the library which is fundraising to upgrade its resources.
Some new ‘‘more appealing’’ new toys had already been purchased, John said.
Larger toys would be on dis- play for children to play with at the library and there would be free cupcakes for visitors and a sausage sizzle fundraiser on the day, she said.
All new members signing up on Saturday between 10am and 1pm would go in a draw to win a year’s free membership.
Casual memberships started from $20 with annual family memberships starting from $60.
‘‘We encourage everyone to come along and see what we have to offer.’’
