Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

Tom Cruise is in town. Yippee. The country goes kooky when celebrities hit town. As a reporter, being sent on a mission to find a celebrity is slightly humiliating.

Loitering around airports and trying to sneak glimpses from afar on movie sets just feels ... wrong. But it has to be done. People go crazy, they want to read about it, and - it’s my job. So reluctantly, zoom lens in hand, we’ve had our stalker pants on in search of Tom Cruise action.

The past week every time I’ve heard a helicopter go over my roof I’ve thought it was Tom Cruise heading up to his military-style set up the Nevis. I’ve been up there three times now. The most exciting action I got was a security guard asking my business for being there. Now I realise Tom Cruise wasn’t even in the country.

Since then, he has been papped through the fence at the airport getting off his plane. So he is in town. Up the Nevis I will go again today.
