Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

I am just a little bit excited this week.

One reason is the Queenstown Winter Festival. My social schedule is sorted with events for four fun days and I can’t wait. No doubt my old bones will have regrets by the time Sunday arrives but I don’t care!

Another reason is that the first stage of the Eastern Access Rd/ Hawthorn Dr is finally opening. With it comes changes to parking around Frankton and the airport’s Park and Ride facility. It’s a pity the new bridge isn’t finished to complete the package.

Our community has waited too long for this relief from congestion. Now let’s hope it works. I can’t help wondering whether people will just think the diversion around Hawthorne Dr just too long and convoluted. Or that the airport parkers will find some other creative spot to call home rather than cough up for an airport owned facility.

We will be watching with interest. Let us know your thoughts!
