Hospital’s funding promise
Maniototo Hospital bosses are eager to hear more detail around a proposed funding pledge by Labour Party Leader Andrew Little.
Little announced on Friday a Labour-led Government would make $1 million available to rebuild the Maniototo Hospital in Ranfurly.
‘‘This will be a much needed boost for a long overdue rebuild that has apparently been put in the too hard basket by National.’’
Maniototo Health Services Ltd general manager Geoff Foster said the management only knew what had been reported from the announcement.
‘‘It is pleasing that a major party recognises the need to fund rural health facilities. Annette King and David Clark have visited our facility in the past and we would be interested in hearing detail of the proposed funding. As it stands we will not be receiving any funding from the current government.’’
Waitaki MP Jacqui Dean said it was ’’easy’’ for Labour to promise funding a couple of months out from the election.
‘‘I am not in the business of over-promising. I have to be grounded in reality and that is my approach to this.’’
