FROM THE NEWS DESK

Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

This week in the Mirror we are launching a short story competition for residents of the Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago Districts. I am super excited.

Regular readers might recall my previous musings on the importance of good literature and encouraging reading and writing in a digital world overcome by targeted advertising and niche interests.

Now we are putting our money where our mouth is.

This is an opportunity for aspiring and experienced writers of all ages and abilities to have a crack at writing a 750-word story and be in to win some great prizes and be published.

The bonus for the rest of us is we have the pleasure of reading and enjoying this work. One of the best things about short stories is that in a short period of time we can be transported away to a new world, meet new characters, and experience new emotions.

We hope you enjoy participating - as reader and writer. More information is on page 5 and page 9.
