Poi­son drop on Su­gar­loaf

The Cen­tral Otago Dis­trict Coun­cil is warn­ing peo­ple to keep dogs on leads and closely watch chil­dren while a poi­son drop is car­ried out on a pop­u­lar walk­ing track near Cromwell.

Chief ex­ec­u­tive Leanne Mash said coun­cil had joined with sur­round­ing landown­ers to con­trol rab­bits on the Su­gar­loaf in a re­spon­si­ble and prac­ti­cal man­ner.

‘‘On this oc­ca­sion ORC served coun­cil with a no­tice to ad­dress the pest rab­bit prob­lem and we are just one part of a wider pro­gramme in the area.’’
