Central Otago Mirror - - CONVERSATIONS -

I look around this region and I see businesses growing, tourist numbers increasing and farmers doing well and I want that to continue.

That’s why I’m asking for your support this election.

My vision is to continue to work hard for the people of this area as we build a stronger economy.

I want to see our young people excelling in bright, modern learning environments, with the Government providing $19 million for a new primary school in Wanaka and more classrooms at Mt Aspiring College, Cromwell and Goldfields Primary Schools.

I want families to be able to find a home and enjoy life in Central Otago, with special accommodation supplement increases of around $100 a week, in Cromwell and Wanaka, boosting people’s incomes next year.

I want to see access to rural health services improved, with a new School of Rural Medicine set to produce more doctors for this area and Dunedin’s brand new hospital giving Central Otago people access to services like emergency, cancer, neonatal and cardiac care.

I want to see mothers taken care of with excellent, local maternity services and the paid parental leave extension to 22 weeks.

I want to ensure that we protect our environment, with National’s tough new freedom camping rules and instant fines targeting bad behaviour, our $375,000 investment in Lake Wanaka to protect water quality and additional budget funding for local conservation infrastructure.

I want tourism to grow sustainably, with increased visitors boosting economic growth thanks to $13 million from the Government to link Central Otago’s trail network and $3 million for the Audi Quattro Winter Games.

I want to see more Government
