Central Otago Mirror - - YOUR LOCAL NEWS -

I love the ups and downs of spring and I am feeling full of the joy of it at the moment.

I know it’s a popular season to leave town due to the variable weather, but I enjoy the changes. The snow and rain on the weekend were the perfect excuse to stay indoors and hopefully the perfect excuse to be on a mountain next weekend, when the weather might have turned again and we get some glorious late ski-season conditions.

Also it is birthday season. There’s so many wonderful spring birthdays in September, including my own. I love any excuse to celebrate though I am now of an age where the annual reminder of my shrinking years is starting to bite.

Finally, this year spring will herald in changes in government - no matter who wins.

I love a good election and am pleased that constituents have real choices to make this year, instead of government by default. It has prompted many discussions at my house and even the children are interested and forming opinions.
