Highlights from over 60 years of Alexandra Musical Society shows will be revisited at this year’s Blossom Festival.

The society is celebrating its 60th jubilee with ‘‘Showtime’’, from September 23 to September 26.

Spokeswoman Ann Jones said they would be performing shows from over the years including Oliver, Annie, The Pirates of Penzance, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, and Showboat.

‘‘We are going to have a narrator from time to time fill you in about what is happening next because it is too hard to tie it together.’’

The society was formed because of the Blossom Festival, she said.

‘‘It started off with the show then it eventuated into the musical society and they continued putting a show on every year...It is really good we are still going after 60 years and putting on a show at Blossom Festival weekend. I think that is what people like and expect.’’

The show will be held at the Memorial Theatre Hall, on Skird Street. Tickets are $40 for an adult, $35 for a senior citizen and child $20.

Meanwhile, other Blossom Festival entertainment will include action from the New Zealand freestyle motocross team, who will kick-off their season on September 22 at the Mardi Gras with their first festival performance.
