‘‘How­ever, it is also very re­ward­ing be­ing able to work with a group of very ded­i­cated, skilled, car­ing and tal­ented in­di­vid­u­als and be­ing here for our com­mu­nity.

‘‘Our clients con­tin­u­ally thank us for help­ing them solve a wide va­ri­ety of sit­u­a­tions.

‘‘You see many of them walk in with the weight of the world on their shoul­ders and then walk out with a glint in their eye.

‘‘I go home at night and think to my­self we do make such a dif­fer­ence to our com­mu­nity and the vol­un­teers play a mas­sive part in that.’’

With­out vol­un­teer man­agers like Sonja who re­cruit, sup­port and mo­ti­vate vol­un­teers, I am ab­so­lutely sure that many events, sports groups, fes­ti­vals, ser­vices and pro­grammes would sim­ply not hap­pen, so let’s take a mo­ment this week to stop and re­flect on all they do to keep our lo­cal and na­tional or­gan­i­sa­tions, and our wider com­mu­nity, tick­ing along so beau­ti­fully.
