Re­ac­tion on neigh­bourly.co.nz, stuff.co.nz and Face­book to last week’s sto­ries... get­ting lo­cal ratepay­ers sub­sidised trans­port! I think they should have planned for lo­cals, and tourists should be pay­ing the reg­u­lar price (cur­rently set at $12 from air­port, $5.75 for most other ar­eas).

The coun­cil have been sub­si­dis­ing park­ing in town for a long time.

Awe­some, the bus driv­ers and other work­ers won’t be able to af­ford to live there but they can af­ford a bus ride now. right through. This is un­ac­cept­able. The real NIMBY is hap­pen­ing in­side our cities, where we have plenty of space, but peo­ple un­will­ing to ac­cept that we need to build up, rather than out. We need to pro­tect what lit­tle real habi­tat we have and not de­crease it.
