O¯ ta¯ whao/Taka­pau WI meet­ing Oc­to­ber 11

Twenty mem­bers met at the RSA hall in Taka­pau.

There were three birth­days in Oc­to­ber: H An­netts, S Avery and C Gedys.

Speaker was Chris­tine Par­tridge, a field of­fi­cer for Ca­nine Friends, ac­com­pa­nied by her dog Clyde. Ca­nine Friends visit rest homes, chil­dren’s wards, hospices, men­tal health fa­cil­i­ties, ICU on­col­ogy wards and Star­ship hos­pi­tal to visit pa­tients. The dogs are well trained fam­ily pets, wear­ing red scarves with Kiwi Ca­nine friends.

Re­ports were given by the Drama Group and the Gar­den Group.The Drama Group went to The Death of Me on Oc­to­ber 30 at the Lit­tle Theatre in Waipuku­rau and the Gar­den Group vis­ited Oder­ings and the Pot­ting Shed in Hast­ings.

Mar­jon Green­wood gave us the Fed­er­a­tion Re­port. Mar­jon spoke about Sarah Jane Crookes and the Lonely Bou­quet Project and how Sarah Jane has started 11 new in­sti­tutes.

H Knight handed out mem­bers a potato each to be grown in a bucket for a com­pe­ti­tion next year. Com­pe­ti­tion re­sults: Flo­ral: 1st M Corn­th­waite 2nd H Knight 3rd M Drum­mond Cook­ing: 1st H Wi­ley Hand­craft: 1st M Corn­th­waite 2nd H Wi­ley 3rd H Knight

The Fed­er­a­tion Christ­mas party is be­ing held on Novem­ber 27 at Lat­i­tude 40 at noon.

Founders Day is be­ing held at Oru­awharoa on Fe­bru­ary 21, 2019 at 2.30pm.
