Your elected members have big aspirations for how Central Hawke’s Bay District Council should be delivering value for the community and their approach has been brave, patient and future-focussed. We have been carefully putting the building blocks in place for two years now and I am incredibly proud of where we have got to. Last week, a voluntary, independent assessment grading for our performance in the local government sector was released – giving us a “BB” grading. What does this mean? The performance of your Council sits about “middle of the pack” amongst other councils from around the country. What is recognised by the assessment is the progress of the changes we have put in place – with very positive feedback on our governance, leadership and engagement with our community. Our pathway of “transformation”, and rebuilding trust with our community is still only just beginning and we have many challenges yet to work through. The CouncilMARK assessment gives us, and our community an incredible confidence boost to continue to move forward with surety. The CouncilMARK Assessment is available on our website and searching CouncilMARK.
