Small works on show

Electra Gallery’s current exhibition of small paintings requires each artist to limit the longest dimension of the work to 23cm, excluding framing.

Each work can be left unframed where appropriate — as in a painting on a canvas or board — or it can be framed as imaginatively as the artist chooses.

More than 50 paintings cover a wide range of topics and styles with many colourful items. Some are from well-known artists who are regular gallery contributors, but there are some new people exhibiting too.

The small works exhibition has been an annual event at Electra for some years but the committee decided to move the timing nearer to Christmas this year. Here is a great opportunity to find a gift for someone or to fill a spot in your own home. “Small and very affordable,” says spokeswoman Margie Stevenson.

The exhibition will run until Saturday, November 17 at Electra Gallery, Ruataniwha S, Waipukurau. Gallery hours are 10am to 4pm on weekdays and 10am until 12.30pm on Saturdays.
