Jazz duo Jennine Bailey and pianist Tom Rainey did it again with another top-notch lunchtime concert. I remembered thoroughly enjoying their concert in July last year and this is up there with it. They are naturals at putting together just the right combination of songs that work so well, creating an easy, intimate atmosphere that makes it really hard to head back to the office.

This offering explored the different facets of love in a very honest and sincere way, from romantic love through to love for one’s children, and grouped loosely around that theme all the songs worked. What also worked was the chemistry between singer and pianist; they’ve worked together a lot and they know how each other works. They were relaxed and had fun and that’s always infectious.
