Fast post won’t be missed when it goes

Christchurch Mail - - OUT & ABOUT -

make a profit these days? The idea that services are all there to make money slowly means that they cost more and more (user pays) with a reduction in services until only a decimated, useless service remains. I’m not saying all once government owned services should be run extravagantly, but remember when NZ actually had services? When the railways worked and the mail got delivered quickly 6 days a week? When people had jobs and apprentices were trained up for the whole country? Why can’t we see passed this failed trickle down economy where profit is privatised and debt nationalised? NZ Post – just another failure in a long line of once proud services now expected to run to some pathetic business model that fails again and again!

Service isn’t used because it doesn’t work. Why pay extra when they don’t do daily deliveries at the other end?

In recent weeks I have started to write snail-mail letters again...the point being that it may help save our postal service from further decline. I hope I am not wasting my time. At least some of us really love to find a hand written letter in the mail box, not only bills. How about more of us start writing letters and buying stamps? Each one of us can make a small difference to someone’s lonely life, and as well collectively we may just save the postal service. Would save a few jobs too. Just a thought.

How to crucify a public amenity , Start by closing most of your offices so that people can’t access your product, then cut back your service to 2-3 times a week (and don’t forget to increase the price)! No wonder the Postal service is imploding .
