Nissan-mobil 500 recalled
Attached are some photos I hope you find of interest. I took them at the Nissan Mobil 500 in Wellington in 1987 but they’ve lost a little clarity in scanning. I remember going to the race armed with my old Pentax SLR (that I still have and use!) and firing off this lot. My lasting memory of the racing however is the awesome sound – full noise along Jervois Quay – the Holden V8’s contrasting against the 6 cylinder BMWs!
My regular day job has me looking out over Frank Kitts Park and I can still picture and hear the activity 27 years later! Ian Tilley Wellington TH Now you are bringing back some memories for me! The first international race meeting I ever saw was the 1986 Nissan-Mobil 500 and like you, the sound of those engines down Jervois Quay was amazing. As far as I am concerned, Group A was the absolute high point of Touring Car racing in New Zealand.
