Clutha Leader - - YOUR PAPER, YOUR PLACE -

You’ve got to hand it to Kate Meads aka Nappy Lady who has morphed from a cloth-nappy promoter into awaste-minimising eco-warrior.

The self-proclaimed advocate of the earth has a high-voltage smile and a search-light charm that can find anyone.

She was in Balclutha recently holding a Love Food Hate Waste masterclass (see photos on the

Out and About page).

I first saw Kate 10 years ago, when she was just starting out as a youngish mum. All she wanted was to become more responsible about disposing her baby’s nappies, to reduce the disposable nappy mountain that modern life has created.

And with that same infectious energy, she’s taken it a step further, without shoving it down your throat. Her tips are just good old-fashioned common sense with a modern twist, such as turning your leftovers into pizza toppings.

What is great about Kate is that she keeps it fresh, and relevant in our wasteful world.
