Chateau re­u­nion in June


Staff of the for­mer Chateau Vil­lage rest home at Bal­clutha are hold­ing a re­u­nion at Queen’s Birth­day Week­end.

Now known as Clutha Views Life­care af­ter a name change in March last year, the 70-bed rest home on Es­sex St - State High­way 1, was pur­pose-built in 1991. It opened with 27 beds.

It 1993, it was pur­chased by John and Terry McMil­lan, and in 1995, an ad­di­tional 21 beds were added, along with ex­tra lounges and sit­ting ar­eas. In July 1996, the hos­pi­tal wing was opened, with 26 beds.

With its re­brand­ing launch last year, the Her­itage Life­care Group- owned fa­cil­ity opened a de­men­tia gar­den, to en­chance its de­men­tia care fa­cil­i­ties.

The gar­den’s es­tab­lish­ment was a high­light for rest home man­ager Rose­mary Thom­son, who has been an em­ployee for 13 years, and part of the fa­cil­ity’s changes.

She said Clutha Views was look­ing for­ward to shar­ing its growth with peo­ple at the re­u­nion, which will be held June 2-3 at the South Otago Town and Coun­try Club, at Bal­clutha.
