Chateau reunion in June
Staff of the former Chateau Village rest home at Balclutha are holding a reunion at Queen’s Birthday Weekend.
Now known as Clutha Views Lifecare after a name change in March last year, the 70-bed rest home on Essex St - State Highway 1, was purpose-built in 1991. It opened with 27 beds.
It 1993, it was purchased by John and Terry McMillan, and in 1995, an additional 21 beds were added, along with extra lounges and sitting areas. In July 1996, the hospital wing was opened, with 26 beds.
With its rebranding launch last year, the Heritage Lifecare Group- owned facility opened a dementia garden, to enchance its dementia care facilities.
The garden’s establishment was a highlight for rest home manager Rosemary Thomson, who has been an employee for 13 years, and part of the facility’s changes.
She said Clutha Views was looking forward to sharing its growth with people at the reunion, which will be held June 2-3 at the South Otago Town and Country Club, at Balclutha.
