A $222m fund­ing boost for the New Zealand screen in­dus­try could lead to more films like Pete’s Dragon be­ing filmed in the south. Eco­nomic De­vel­op­ment Min­is­ter Si­mon Bridges and Arts, Cul­ture and Her­itage Min­is­ter Mag­gie Barry said the funds would be dis­trib­uted over four years and $18 mil­lion in 2016/17 for the In­ter­na­tional Screen Production Grant to bring in­ter­na­tional pro­duc­tions here.
