Are cars a bit like dogs?

Do they say something about their owners?

The 6th annual Kaitangata Car Show and Run was a great way to test that theory, with 400-odd entries, and just about every sort of conveyance under the sun.

I had great fun chatting to owners, and while some did not fit the stereotype of their cars, their cars definitely said something about them, because of the obvious pride they take and the enjoyment of showing it off. You can’t beat the sociable, friendly commerce of car shows.

When I asked some what sort of person they thought their car would be, the question was met with hilarity from some, and deep thought from others.

It might be fun to match some of their descriptions to the photos: gangster, zesty, cruisy, Sandy from Grease (?!), New Zealand’s Next Top Model, low and fat, small and cute, happy and edible.

Good on you Kai for putting on another fun show, and for a good cause too, with proceeds going to Kaka Point Surf Life Saving Club and Clutha Marching.
