Whanga­mata RSA Sept 20: Twelve play­ers en­joyed the af­ter­noon with Des Flynn be­ing the top player and Mau­reen King­ham tak­ing home the choco­late bar. Coral Mack­wood won the Meat at the Beach Raf­fle. New play­ers al­ways wel­come on Wed­nes­days from 12.30pm – play starts at 1pm.


Sat 23-Sun 24 Sept: Waihi Club's (now an­nual) B Grade Tour­na­ment had eight en­tries from Ro­torua, Hamil­ton and Waihi, plus two Wgm play­ers, Anne Har­ris and Chris Con­roy. A very pleas­ant full-on week­end; each play­ing three x 2.5 hour games on Sat and two more on Sun­day. Then to cap it off on Sat evenng the Waihi Club put on a de­li­cious din­ner at their Clu­b­rooms. No prizes won by the Whanga peo­ple, but a most en­joy­able cou­ple of days.

Sept 25: Com­pe­ti­tion played on a lovely spring day. Win­ner on the max­i­mum 21 points was Pres­i­dent Roger Buchanan and Don O'sul­li­van was Run­ner up on 18.


Cooks Beach Sept 20: Norm Lit­tin and Alan Henry 1, Roy Mac­don­ald and Frank Caulton 2. Me­mo­rial Hall Sept 25: The win­ner with 3 wins was John Hares, Joy O'sul­li­van and Marj Hodg­son. Run­ner up: Gary St Clair and John Towes. Con­so­la­tion: Norm Sayer Merv Ward and Max Hill. The raf­fle Steve Hodg­son. Tairua Sept 25: Three mats were re­quired. Winnners: Bruce Craw­ford and Lori Sin­ton. Run­ners Up: Beryl Bur­rows, Shirley Ped­er­sen and Ron An­nan. Choc Fish Award: Terry Hef­feran, Johnny Mor­ri­son and Eric Bartlett. Raf­fles won by: Johnny Mor­ri­son Peter Carver­hill, Joan Smith, Shirley Ped­er­sen, Terry Hef­feran, Lori Sin­ton and Jenny Ged­des. The sea­son is draw­ing to a close prior to the AGM on Oc­to­ber 9 with a 6.30 pm start. Whanga­mata Club Sept 20: Eight play­ers en­joyed a game of 2-2-2. It's a great way to learn the game. Sept 22: Ex­cel­lent turnout of 36 play­ers who had an awe­some af­ter­noon play­ing bowls with lots of laugh­ter. We wel­comed new player Kris­tine Caird who im­proved her game in one af­ter­noon. Whanga­mata Club Sept 19: Win­ner with 4 wins was Ge­orge with 253 points. Run­ner-up with 4 wins was Jim with 229 points. High­est Break was Cary with a break of 25. Raf­fles were won by Gavin No 15 and Gavin again No 17. Whanga­mata RSA Sept 21: Top player of the evening was Scotty Ryan with 4 wins and 293 points fol­lowed by Stephen Hin­ton also with 4 wins and 287 points. Scotty also had the High Break with 25 Points. Chris won the Meat at the Beach Spon­sor's Prize. The raf­fle was won by Chips.


Sept 20: De­spite com­plain­ing of an in­jury(!) Brian Ford reigned supreme over Zane Scott this week. To keep the peace, Gail Gilbert­son and Lorna Judd tied for third and were des­per­ate to get their names in. We play 12.50pm at the Whanga­mata Club ev­ery Wed­nes­day for fun games. All wel­come.
