The project in­cludes:

■ In­stalling so­lar power pan­els to gen­er­ate its own power.

■ In­stalling so­lar tubes to in­crease nat­u­ral light­ing in­doors.

■ Re­plac­ing fluorescent lights with LED down­lights to cut light­ing costs. ■ In­stalling lou­vre win­dows to in­crease air flow in the hot­ter months.

All of this work is now com­pleted. The kin­der­garten thanks the Whanga­mata¯ Lions Club, The Lion Foun­da­tion, En­vi­roschools Waikato, In­spired Kinder­gartens, and wha¯ nau for fundrais­ing for this project and giv­ing it grants.

It thanked Neville at New World for his do­na­tions of kai for reg­u­lar fundrais­ing dis­cos.

The kin­der­garten has pur­pose­fully po­si­tioned the so­lar tubes above the ta­bles where chil­dren write, draw, paste and cre­ate. This is a heavyuse area in­doors.

It can mon­i­tor the per­for­mance of so­lar pan­els on­line.
