Whangamata Dance Studio marking 20-year milestone with biggest show yet

This year will be Whangamata¯ Dance Studio’s biggest show yet, celebrating 20 years of dance shows.

The NUMBER#TWENTY show will be an exceptional performance featuring a mixture of favourite choreographed dances from past years, and is a huge achievement for owner and teacher Jo Cullen. Back in 1999, Whangamata Dance Studio had six students sitting their exams, and in 2018 a record number of 226 examinations were examined, plus 33 contemporary medal tests.

“Her dedication and love of dance has had a huge contribution to many students in Whangamata¯ ,” the studio says. “Our little town has been truly blessed to have such a talented woman share the beauty of dance.’’

Many students have attended the studio over the years, and teachers are hoping to see some familiar faces in the audience.

The students have been practising and have polished dance routines, costumes, hair and makeup.

The audience will be dazzled with jazz, hip hop, contemporary and tap.
