COCO’S CANTINA

14.5/20

Cuisine - Good Food Guide - - Auckland -

Slap bang in the middle of lively K Rd, Coco’s has a large and loyal following, and it’s not hard to see why. Sisters Damaris and Renee Coulter run the show in a constantly cheery manner, their efficient, friendly staff wearing t-shirts emblazoned with “be kind”. Expect a wait for a table, but perch yourself at the bar and choose something from the decent wine list, or perhaps a craft beer or a cocktail, and time will fly by. The small menu is rustic Italian, with a focus on quality, seasonal ingredients from small, local suppliers – think celeriac ravioli with macadamia and thyme butter, or slow-roasted pork belly with pumpkin, pancetta, radicchio and hazelnuts. Excitingly, the tiny kitchen here is soon to be expanded, which will give chef Guilherme Correa Bezerra more room to show us what he’s capable of. Watch this space. 376 Karangahape Rd, City, ph: 09-300 7582, cocoscantina.co.nz Drinks & dinner Tues-sat; mains $22-$33 IN BRIEF An Italian cantina with a big focus on fun
