This fun tapas restaurant moved into its new riverside venue last year, and what a spot – it’s all floor-to-ceiling glass, soaring stud, minimalist blonde wood and contrasting black chairs, which makes for the perfect setting to enjoy head chef Kylie Petterson’s globally influenced small plates. These are done consistently well, with high-quality ingredients and thoughtful flavour combinations. Zingy crispy spiced chicken with creamy avocado, lime and chilli mayo is spot on, while the beautifully presented market fish niçoise salad is a classic done brilliantly. The kimchi and pork dumplings, meanwhile, are a moreish, flavourful treat. Staff are welcoming and knowledgeable and the drinks list is a real highlight, with an impressive, Belgian-focused beer selection as well as a thoughtful wine list and great cocktails. 21 Grantham St, Hamilton, ph: 07-834 3562, gothenburg.co.nz Lunch & dinner Tues-sat; tapas $6-$26 IN BRIEF Top tapas and tipples in a great space
