KING OF SNAKE

Cuisine - Good Food Guide - - Canterbury -

This hugely popular spot serves up an eclectic mix of dishes in an edgy urban setting – it’s a dark, moody space with some on-theme Oriental touches and dashes of dramatic colour. The menu is contemporary Asian, ranging from the fresh, sharp, hot flavours of Vietnam to the sweeter, heavier, saltier flavours of China and Korea. Sichuan fried tofu with spicy coriander salad and red dragon sauce is a fragrant, delicious combination of tastes and textures, while Mandarin-marinated salmon and grated coconut salad is a fresh, flavoursome treat. A sharp lime custard complemented by fresh coconut milk, crunchy yam biscuit crumb and a citrus salad with fine slivers of mint makes for the perfect finale, or you could opt for one of the excellent cocktails, which complement a decent wine list. 145 Victoria St, City, ph: 03-365 7363, kingofsnake.co.nz Lunch Mon-fri, dinner 7 days; mains $26.50-$42.50
