ARTWOK

Cuisine - Good Food Guide - - Auckland -

14.5/20 Artwok delivers deep flavours with a modern Chinese feel within its small but intriguing menu. Hong Kong street-style da pai dang offers diamond clams from a flaming wok in your choice of flavours. Mrs Wang’s dumpling suggestions are definitely not to be missed and if you’re addicted to the tongue-tingling sensation of Sichuan pepper, then the shuizhu niurou, with its tender slices of Angus beef in a deep and numbing sauce of garlic, chilli and bean sprouts, is sure to please. Dark wood panelling and quirky decor such as Seletti Hybrid bone china plates that have been turned into lamp shades set the scene, and craft beers on tap provide the perfect pairing for Artwok’s bold flavours. Complimentary hand-cut potato chips infused with garlic, ginger and chilli, plus sparkling water on tap, are nice touches. 152 Hurstmere Rd, Takapuna, 09 930 0999, artwok.co.nz Lunch & dinner Tues-sun; large shared plates $30-$42 Contemporary IN BRIEF Chinese food in a fun space
