BRACU

Cuisine - Good Food Guide - - Auckland -

15/20 Tucked away in Bombay, Bracu has the feeling of a country retreat, far from the cares of the city. The heritage kauri villa that houses the restaurant is graced by a generous verandah – book a table for lunch and enjoy the pleasant juxtaposition of fine dining and fresh air, with olive trees from the grove dappling the sunlight. Chef Logan Clark treads an expert path of presenting appealing, delicious food that’s clever but never overwrought. A refreshing starter of fig, watermelon and goat’s curd is offset by a flavourful gazpacho; a main of beautifully cooked lamb fillet is accompanied by silky potato puree, spheres of crumbed goat’s cheese and zucchini. The drinks list is wide-ranging, and waitstaff are able to guide you through the many options. After you’ve eaten you can wander through the olive grove, reflecting on your good fortune. 49 Main Rd, Bombay, 09 236 1030, bracu.co.nz Lunch Wed-sun, dinner Wed-sat; mains $39.90 Fine food in a IN BRIEF peaceful country setting
