Tucked in the heart of central Auckland under the Skycity mantle lies The Grill, an unashamed and iconic celebration of meat in a New York steakhouse setting. The Grill’s name is synonymous with excellent meat, and the traditional menu won’t disappoint anyone looking for tasty, flavourful dishes. Mains like Savannah Angus pasture-fed rib eye on the bone with anchovy butter are this restaurant’s bread and butter, although non-meat options like Cloudy Bay clams with jamon, chilli and parsley sauce are cooked equally beautifully, and the wine list is both extensive and impressive. Chef Sean Connolly has carved himself a place in the Kiwi restaurant scene as the master of meat – a position that’s well deserved.
