New edi­tions of two Kiwi beer books have hit the shelves – Michael Donald­son’s Beer Na­tion (Ed­ify, $40) has been re­vised and up­dated to take into ac­count the break­neck speed at which the NZ craft beer in­dus­try is de­vel­op­ing, as has Jules Van Costello’s Brewed ( Pot­ton & Bur­ton, $40), which pro­files and rates 166 Kiwi brew­eries. In other booze news, Rum (Hardie Grant Books, $23) is a cute wee book ded­i­cated to every pi­rate’s favourite bev­er­age, while The Way of Whisky (Ha­chette, $65) is a beau­ti­ful jour­ney around Ja­panese whisky dis­til­leries.
