Rockwell man joins Athenry Electrical
Ian Coullie has joined the team at Athenry as automation integrator.
Ian was a Rockwell Systems Integrator for 15 years and has completed projects using Allan Bradley, Siemens, Omron and Modicon PLC’s in a diverse range of Industries.
His first project for Athenry was a real challenge. He had to design a turn-key solution for Coulter Engineering who were building the equipment for A. J. Hackett’s latest extreme adventure in Sochi, Russia. This included a bungy jump, f lying fox and patron swing. A real challenge was network communications across the 800 metre gorge.
A Moxa wireless Ethernet solution was chosen and together with a fully stateof-the-art networked VSD drives and PLC system was delivered and commissioned in Tauranga.
A din rail PC allows for remote connection and data logging of all systems via the Web.
Ian has worked in a variety of fields including, cable, tyre and rubber making, the gravure printing press environment and the food and pharmaceutical industries.
“Apart from new turnkey automation projects including S88 batch processing systems I have specialised in upgrading and replacing plc equipment,” says Ian. “This has involved replacing Reliance Automax, Siemens S5 and Allan Bradley PLC’s.
“My project experience includes management, panel building management, precommissioning, installation control and final commissioning.”
