EQM steps up to the plate to keep industry moving
Over the last few months EQM has taken on some challenges for food processors with some fantastic results.
Lacking space was no barrier to installing a pallet roller conveyor at a packaging plant.
The firm was asked to resolve a challenge with a refit at the plant, whereby a forklift could not gain access to load pallets into a machine.
EQM recommended and installed a band drive conveyor, as it would be lower to the ground and would only require three drives. It was also the only fully accumulating system that could handle stacks of pallets.
“The benefit of the band driven pallet roller is that it doesn't need to be any wider than the pallets,” says EQM.
It was not as expensive as other options and was installed quickly.
EQM also secured a new large food processing client. The client identified their gearbox was at the end of its life and likely to breakdown, they needed to take fast action.
They did a Google search, found EQM's website and quickly identified a matching gearbox.
The firm ordered two gearboxes, but before they could be delivered overnight, the existing gear box failed, forcing production to stop.
Working two phones at once – one to an urgent courier and the other to the customer – a third gearbox was f lown to Auckland and installed within a few hours.
In another success, one of New Zealand's largest fruit packing operations has had a triple whammy of benefits from using Challenge triple seal bearings.
The firm was replacing bearings in its fruit brush washer units every season due to the wet and dirty environment created from cleaning fruit.
EQM suggested the triple seal bearings, and so far they have lasted three times longer than their predecessors.
The packhouse manager says: “The triple seal bearings are definitely worth changing to and are very effective in wet areas. We have only replaced 18 bearings this time rather than 240.”
EQM thinks outside the box and acts quickly to make sure the nation's food processors have little downtime.
