Ap­pren­tice­ship scheme gets a boost in Taranaki

The En­gi­neer­ing Taranaki Con­sor­tium (ETC) has won a govern­ment con­tract to pro­vide en­gi­neer­ing ap­pren­tice­ships.

The con­sor­tium ap­plied to be part of the di­rect fund­ing scheme through the govern­ment’s com­pet­i­tive bid­ding process, which en­abled em­ploy­ers/in­dus­try di­rect ac­cess to fund­ing that had his­tor­i­cally only been ac­cessed by In­dus­try Train­ing Or­gan­i­sa­tions (ITOs).

The three other suc­cess­ful ap­pli­cants were South­ern Group Train­ing (North­land and South­land); Ry­man Health­care, and NZ Ki­wifruit Grow­ers In­cor­po­rated.

ETC is a col­lec­tive of Taranaki’s ma­jor en­gi­neer­ing firms, and Ven­ture Taranaki con­trib­utes to the group’s ac­tiv­i­ties.

It has been in­volved in the de­liv­ery of the Mod­ern Ap­pren­tice­ship scheme in the district for more than 10 years.
