WorkSafeNZ hits the road

The govern­ment’s WorkSafe New Zealand (WorkSafe NZ) is pilot­ing a range of new as­sess­ment tools that will be used by its in­spec­tors to sup­port site vis­its.

WorkSafe NZ will be test­ing the tools at New Ply­mouth, Tau­ranga, and Auck­land over a two-week pe­riod dur­ing June.

It will be fo­cussing on the fac­tors that pro­duce sig­nif­i­cant harm within the man­u­fac­tur­ing sec­tor in­clud­ing; ma­chine guard­ing, workplace trans­port, man­ual han­dling, per­sonal pro­tec­tive equip­ment, house keep­ing, and clean air.

Al­though this is a test­ing ex­er­cise, WorkSafe NZ will be tak­ing en­force­ment ac­tion where nec­es­sary.
