King’s tomb copied
Tutankhamun’s tomb has been copied with an exact facsimile in a project led by a British artist wanting to protect the original site from mass tourism.
UK firm Factum Arte used digital photography, 3D laser scanning and printers to recreate the walls of the burial chamber, depicting scenes featuring the young pharaoh.
The company is working on projects to replicate other tombs. The Tutankhamun replica can be seen outside the entrance of the Valley of the Kings in Egypt.
The five-year 3D printing project was been filmed for a BBC travel show called A New Tomb for Tutankhamun.
