Mobile Fume Cube helps keep the bad air away

New Zealand Duct & Flex introduced its ‘Fume Cube’ three years ago.

The all-in-one mobile unit with fan, two-part filtration, and a 160mm, 3m reach self-supporting fume arm, is ideal for workshops where the cost of continuous filtration cannot be justified.

One of the first to use the Fume Cube was Bernie Klaver, senior engineer and workshop manager at Unitech Industries in Henderson.

Following constant use since 2012 in its workshop, which includes a lot of aluminium grinding, welding, plus general metal work, Bernie reports the Fume Cube is doing exactly what they wanted – effectively dealing with dry impurities close to where they are generated, and taking the fumes away from his welders’ faces.

“For many welders, to improve conditions in the entire workshop would be difficult to solve with a fixed extraction system as the work changes so much,” says Geoff Ebdon, sales manager from NZ Duct & Flex.

“However, with no installation costs and the compact size of the unit, they have been an extremely popular addition to our fume filtration range.”

Unitech has a strong focus on environmental quality and safety. The added protection of the Fume Cube, plus improving working conditions for Bernie and his assistant Andrew, meant he could see how useful the Fume Cube would be with the locking castors, (it’s so easy to be able to reposition the unit to where they need it).

Finally they are all getting the benefit of the cleaner air for just the capital outlay of only one unit.
