MENZ: Oceania Aviation tour
Oceania Aviation is New Zealand’s leading aircraft support and sales operation, delivering comprehensive MRO capabilities to the general aviation market. Oceania Aviation has bases in Ardmore, Albany, Hamilton, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown, and employs over 150 staff. Although much of Oceania Aviation’s maintenance support is New Zealand based, much of the company’s turbine, component, blade, auxiliary equipment manufacture and aircraft sales and brokerage is work commissioned by offshore companies.
Oceania Aviation remains privately owned by Managing Directors Josh Camp, Jonathan Bowen and Gordon Luke, with all business operations overseen by CEO Don McCracken. Each has extensive experience in the aviation industry, with Josh Camp and Jonathan Bowen establishing Oceania Aviation in 1992, whilst still working as rotor pilots in commercial roles. Together with the Executive Board, they have established a culture of empathy, where the emphasis is on fast, flexible, knowledgeable service, understanding that time on the ground is lost time in the air and a compromise to their customers’ earnings power. It has delivered Oceania Aviation ongoing success and ensured their growth in the New Zealand aviation market.
On the evening of June 24th Oceania Aviation hosted an MENZ event, where interested members of the general engineering community were invited to tour the company’s Hamilton facilities. Steve Burrows, Oceania Aviation’s QA Manager, arranged the event and was pleased with the large turnout, commenting that he received great feedback on Oceania Aviation’s capabilities and the knowledge and enthusiasm of the company’s staff.
The tour was broken into bays, where specialist staff could outlay their roles and offer a break-down of their daily activities. It was an enjoyable night for all attending and Oceania Aviation looks forward to hosting future MENZ events and building closer relations with its members. A big thank you goes to the staff at Oceania Aviation.
