Universal Robots adding value to Cascina Italia’s picking, packaging and shelling line – one egg at a time

DEMM Engineering & Manufacturing - - FOOD & BEVERAGE INDUSTRY -

Cascina Italia uses a Universal Robots UR5 robotic arm on one of its output stations to handle approximately 1.5 million eggs each day. The demands of working in the fresh food market, prioritising employees’ safety, accommodating space constraints, and minimising costs were all important factors in Cascina’s choice in a robotics solution. By deploying the UR5, employees were relieved from the strenuous process of preparing bulky packages for large-scale distribution. And since UR robots can operate without fencing after a safety audit, employees are able to work alongside the UR5 on the production line
