Solid-state relays boost channel capacity in space-constrained applications

-

RS Components (RS) now offers a new own-brand range of highly miniaturised solid-state relays (SSRs), which enable small panels or cabinets to support extremely high channel count.

The SSRs have the industry’s lowest profile of just 71mm, making them ideal for applications that require isolation between a PLC and field wiring but are subject to severe enclosure-height constraints, says RS. Their 6.2mm footprint is shared with other miniature mechanical relays, which helps enhance f lexibility and simplifies panel design challenges.

Adding to their physical size advantages, the relay housings provide space for identification labels of up to 24 characters. Clear terminal markings also help ensure accurate installation and maintenance. Screw or push-in termination options give f lexibility for designers to meet the needs of different markets worldwide. In addition, all models feature an integrated test socket.

The new SSRs combine the superior reliability of solid-state technology with press-fit internal construction that further enhances robustness. They are packaged in f lame-retardant housings that meet UL 94-V0 and the NFF I2/F2 transportation standard, specified over the industrial temperature range -40°C to 85°C, and carry CE, UL, CSA and GL approvals.
