ON­LINE COM­MU­NITY for en­gi­neers, element14.com, has added new cour­ses to its range of free DIY learn­ing mod­ules, to help its mem­bers de­velop their skills and keep up with the lat­est trends and in­no­va­tions within the in­dus­try.

The ‘Es­sen­tials’ cour­ses take the form of sim­ple, self- paced learn­ing mod­ules cov­er­ing key ar­eas such as IoT, mo­tor con­trol and power man­age­ment. Each mod­ule is de­signed to be short enough to be fully com­pleted in around one hour, end­ing with a quiz that mem­bers can com­plete to val­i­date their learn­ing.

The lat­est ad­di­tion to the element14.com cur­ricu­lum is a se­ries on Pro­gram­mable De­vices, start­ing with a mod­ule fo­cused on the es­sen­tials of pro­gram­mable logic cov­er­ing Boolean al­ge­bra, Logic Gates, Se­quen­tial Cir­cuits, HDL and more. The course is spon­sored by Xil­inx.

Other pop­u­lar Es­sen­tials Cour­ses in­clude Smart Power Dis­tri­bu­tion, In­dus­trial IOT and Power Fun­da­men­tals for Mak­ers. All cour­ses can be ac­cessed free of charge by reg­is­tered mem­bers of the element14 com­mu­nity.

Dianne Kibbey, Global Head of Com­mu­nity and So­cial Me­dia for element14, said element14 recog­nises how im­por­tant it is to keep up to date with the lat­est trends, in­no­va­tions and skills.
