Bit­ter Love

Bit­ter love – so named be­cause of its beau­ti­fully bit­ter notes that we just love (no bro­ken hearts here). Top tip: mi­crowav­ing is a sneaky short­cut for in­fus­ing flavour.

100ml Karven Bianco Ver­mouth 50ml Karven Amaro 1–2 tea­spoons dark berry fruit syrup 2 strips grape­fruit zest, plus a slice

to gar­nish 1 sprig rose­mary, plus more to gar­nish 2 ta­ble­spoons Karven Gin

Put the ver­mouth, amaro, syrup, grape­fruit zest and rose­mary into a mi­crowave-safe jug and heat on high for 3 min­utes. Leave to cool, prefer­ably for a few hours, then strain.

Place 2 large chunks of ice into two glasses and pour over 1 ta­ble­spoon of gin into each and top with ver­mouth mix­ture. Stir gen­tly. Gar­nish with a slice of grape­fruit and a sprig of rose­mary. Serves 2
