Bitter love – so named because of its beautifully bitter notes that we just love (no broken hearts here). Top tip: microwaving is a sneaky shortcut for infusing flavour.
100ml Karven Bianco Vermouth 50ml Karven Amaro 1–2 teaspoons dark berry fruit syrup 2 strips grapefruit zest, plus a slice
to garnish 1 sprig rosemary, plus more to garnish 2 tablespoons Karven Gin
Put the vermouth, amaro, syrup, grapefruit zest and rosemary into a microwave-safe jug and heat on high for 3 minutes. Leave to cool, preferably for a few hours, then strain.
Place 2 large chunks of ice into two glasses and pour over 1 tablespoon of gin into each and top with vermouth mixture. Stir gently. Garnish with a slice of grapefruit and a sprig of rosemary. Serves 2
