A man has suffered leg injuries after he was struck and became wedged under the wheel of a truck in central Auckland. Fire communicat­ions shift manager Jaron Phillips said crews were called to the incident near the corner of Newton and Kyber Pass Roads at 8.28am on Wednesday. ‘‘There were reports of a pedestrian with their leg stuck under a vehicle,’’ Phillips said. Ambulance crews attended and the man was taken to hospital in a moderate condition.

HOSPITAL STABBING

A 56-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to a stabbing at Auckland City Hospital on October 18. A source said that a man had been seen with a knife lodged in his kidney region, on level five of the hospital near the canteen. He said that a colleague had gone to alert security when two men were seen arguing, but by the time security arrived one of the men had been stabbed. A police spokeswoma­n said that the victim was treated for serious injuries.the incident happened shortly before 3pm. The main cafeteria area on level five had been cordoned off by police.
