It’s a debate that happens every year and everybody has at least one argumentative friend to incite at barbecues. In New Zealand we officially celebrate the start of spring on September 1 but many countries go with the spring equinox. This year’s southern hemisphere spring when we start getting much more sunlight is September 22.

Nothing is a quintessential Kiwi trio like lamb and arguing while barbecuing. And Auckland has a plethora of stunning spots to cookup-a-storm that aren’t yet besieged by summer crowds.
Cornwall Park of course has a fragrant boulevard of daffodils sprouting about now. There’s also plenty of other places around Auckland to find these cheerful flowers even on roadside verges.
Asparagus fans are cruelly treated
