It’s a debate that hap­pens ev­ery year and ev­ery­body has at least one ar­gu­men­ta­tive friend to in­cite at bar­be­cues. In New Zealand we of­fi­cially cel­e­brate the start of spring on Septem­ber 1 but many coun­tries go with the spring equinox. This year’s south­ern hemi­sphere spring when we start get­ting much more sun­light is Septem­ber 22.

Noth­ing is a quin­tes­sen­tial Kiwi trio like lamb and ar­gu­ing while bar­be­cu­ing. And Auck­land has a plethora of stun­ning spots to cookup-a-storm that aren’t yet be­sieged by sum­mer crowds.

Corn­wall Park of course has a fra­grant boule­vard of daffodils sprout­ing about now. There’s also plenty of other places around Auck­land to find th­ese cheer­ful flow­ers even on road­side verges.
