Super snapper everywhere

-

This week’s fishing has been an odd mixture, with some anglers catching nothing, or catching their limit in half an hour! Areas such as Parks Point and Eastern Beach are holding some brilliant snapper. The best area is still the bottom end of Waiheke, and Pakatoa Island in particular. Kingfish, snapper and dory have all been in large numbers.

Lots of berley still seems to be needed when targeting snapper or kingys. Anything with mackerel in it should do the trick. Stray-lining whole pilchards and squids has proved most effective recently, although small poppers and slow jigs are still attracting those fish.

We have brilliant weather in the coming week and now the snapper have spawned, they’re back to eating, so it’s time to get your friends and family together and get fishing! The top baits are pilchards, mackerel and flying fish (best for kingfish). Until next week... Tight Lines!

Our great deal on Red Plate Pilchards is $25, normally $29.99.
